We were based at a Scout site near Kidderminster, 11 boys and 4 leaders

attended. After the first evening of rain the weather was kind to us and we

had sun and warmth for the entire week.

 

We visited the West Midland Wildlife park and saw the animals that had been

waking us up in the morning (the camp site was adjacent to the park). We

hiked cross country (they really can read maps if thay have to!) Went

climbing, abseiling, shooting, swimming, food shopping, did a pioneering

project (a combined climbing frame and flagpole), did archery, bivouacked in

the woods, in fact the boys spent the entire week sleeping in it rather than

the tents!!.

 

The heavens opened just before we packed up to come home so we had tents to

dry when we were back at the hut, but a great time was had by all (Including

the leaders).

 

My thanks go to all the boys who attended, the leaders, and the parents for

encouraging the boys to take a giant leap into becoming a bit more self

sufficient.
